Product Description

Nicotinamide (vitamin B3/niacinamide), 500mg, 180 tablets

    Why We Chose This Product

    • Nicotinamide is also known as vitamin B3 or niacinamide.
    • It is an essential vitamin in our diets found in meats, seed and nuts.
    • One large study (with 292 patients) found that nicotinamide tablets twice a day increased skin hydration compared to a placebo. It took a long time for the skin hydration to improve though (up to 1 year taking the supplement).
    • The findings were from a study in adults with skin cancer. Nicotinamide tablets haven't been studied specifically for eczema patients.
    • Nicotinamde has been studied as a cream in eczema. One small study showed that nicotinamide cream reduced itch and overall eczema severity compared to standard moisturisers. We recommend nicotinamide creams in our Medicated Moisturiser collection.
    • Nicotinamide also increased ceramides and other lipids (oils) found naturally in the skin. Two small studies showed that nicotinamide cream improves hydration in the skin compared to standard moisturisers.
    • People with eczema are at higher risk of some types of skin cancer. Nicotinamide protects people from developing skin cancer.
    • These tablets are suitable for vegans.
    • These tablets don't cause flushing.

    Directions

As the study was in adults, we recommend that this is only take by adults.
